Relevance

Learner Relevance

All of us have reasons why we are learning something. Even as infants and children, play is learning for the work of growth and development.

As adults, we have an advanced purpose for the pursuit of a profession, employability, a hobby or perhaps, a calling. How a person travels from their present to where they want to end on that learning journey, is unique to individuals and their learning styles.

Planning and then proceeding through that journey builds relevance. Relevance in turn builds motivation, effort and success in learning. This is especially true when knowledge can be attained in ways that it is understood, not memorized and applied to the purpose and necessity of learning it.

Teachers can build meaningful learning sessions that include interactive, integrated and collaborative experiences that support this learning. Working with and for students in laying out a path towards acquisition of skills, behaviors and knowledge, through application of adult learning theory tools equips teachers to meet students where they are and to support and guide learners to the finish line. Nothing gives teachers of all kinds- satisfaction and pride in seeing their students succeed!

Teacher relevance.
