The Bonsai Blog Structure

If you have been reading our blogs, you know that we intentionally chose the bonsai as our logo for a reason. The shaping of a bonsai is an intentional series of adjustment with the end goal of creating something unique and beautiful.

In the spirit of the bonsai, our blog has intention and structure. Over the next few months we will introduce a series of topics crucial to educational program development and delivery.

We will start out with the roots: defining the role of consultants and how to use them effectively, then moving into some big picture topics like degree creep or degree transition and adult learning theory.

Next comes the trunk, or support of the bonsai: the curriculum specifics such as interprofessional learning, global programing and international learning, and integrative teaching and faculty cohesion.

Finally, we will tackle the foliage: today’s students who are growing up on technology and sound bites. WE will compare educational philosophies such as competency based learning versus an integrated approach of meeting students where they are.

Later, we will address program administration and the multitude of tasks and skills involved in running a successful program. These are the necessary tools for sculpting the bonsai, the unseen adjustments that make any program successful.

Please subscribe to our blog and join us in discussion and sharing around the many aspects of education.
